Fly Fishing Group Courses for 2008
Last year we did some group fly fishing courses that proved to be a success. So much so that we have decided to do some more covering just about everything you might encounter in your fly fishing life!
All will be down here at our Scott Fly Fishing School HQ in Devon and numbers will be strictly limited and will be on private beats or our own lake so there is no chance that you will bump into anybody else which can be the case on club waters or public lakes.
Most of all though we will make sure you will learn lots in a fun and informal way!
We’ll be adding some more dates soon but these are the first and looks like they will be popular
April 12th Beginners Course
Join Pete and Mark who will take you on the first steps into the fly fishing world. The course will cover everything from the tackle we use and how we use it, learning how to cast (the important bit!) leading up to putting it into practice and catching one of the trout from our lake (the fun bit!) Both highly qualified full time AAPGAI instructors you will learn plenty with plenty of humour from the guys.
May 24th and 25th Salmon Course.
Ever wanted to catch a sliver tourist? This will be the course for you. Hosted by Bob, the course will cover casting a double handed rod and all the tips and tricks that Bob has accumulated over many years on the water. This will all be put into practice on a very private and exclusive beat of the Tamar. Bob was a guide on this beat for 16 years and knows every pool and just about every stone having spent countless hours here. An AAPGAI instructor, Bob is able to show you everything you are going to need to cast to a salmon and more! Considered to be one of the finest two handed casters around this will be a course not to miss and there is a chance of a springer to spice things up just a little! This is a 2 day course.
16th and 17th August Sea Trout Course
We are very lucky to have prised Illtyd Griffiths away from his beloved Dovey to show you how to go in search of sea trout. He is acknowledged to be one of the finest sea trout fishermen of our generation and this will be a course not to miss. This two day course will cover casting and tips from Illtyd and lead up to two sessions of sea trout fishing under the cover of darkness. An AAPGAI instructor Illtyd will show you the casts that will enable you to hook up with a sea trout. There is already demand for this course and numbers are strictly limited and the saff here at the Scott Fly Fishing School are itching to assist Illtyd just so they can pick up some words of wisdom from the maestro!
22nd November Pike Fishing Course
Mark Bailey has forgotten about the amount of double figure pike than most of us will ever catch. This course will enable you to learn about the tactics and methods needed to catch these toothy critters. He will also teach you how to cast a large pike fly in a practical and effective manner and then how to get the most out of it when it is in the water. This is a course not to miss!
There will be more added including a river course hosted by a European Champion!
Please drop us an email if any of the courses are of interest or feel free to call us on 01566 784000
